September 24th weekend is fully booked so I suppose we are filling October 1. We will keep going as long as weather holds and the phone keeps ringing. 250-619-7201 randy@cedarmotorcycle.com

Katrina and I are off exploring the province on OUR bikes, and reminding ourselves why we love to teach, oh and reminding ourselves of WHAT to teach...lol...anyway, leave me an email or a message with your details and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I don't know when and where I'll have cell or internet, because we don't know where we're going....that's what motorcycle vacations are all about right? That and stories to tell....

To say it's been a crazy year would be the understatement of several! Anyway, we have a new classroom, and we are now CERTIFIED TO ADMINISTER THE MST/MSA (Same thing) after your course with us. That means no more waiting for an appointment at ICBC! Get your learners first, then call me. Unfortunately I still can't register you until you have that learners permit in your pocket....(sad face).

To write the learners, I would recommend you Call ICBC at 1-800-950-1498 to make the appointment first. Then download the learn to ride manuals from the "links" page on the left. Do that NOW even before you start studying, as I hear that wait times of two to three weeks are typical. ICBC is not allowing anyone to simply walk in without an appointment. Try some of the smaller sites like Ladysmith, Mill bay, Nanaimo Service BC Centre at 460 Selby st, or  Parksville. (They're often not as busy). Do it first so you have lots of time to study. If you have any questions as you read through, feel free to call me (Randy) for help. 250-619-7201

We are now booking for the weekend of August 20th, and 27th. The season is not going to last much longer, so don't delay too long.

Former students are always welcome to come back for a free theory refresher, and parents, or partners that are already licensed, are welcome to come with their new rider. BTW, if you're coming from out of town, feel free to bring your camper or trailer. We have lots of room to park it. If you don't have that, I have a hide-a-bed we occasionally guest out...it's not fancy, but it's kinda private, and it's a bed...lol...lets just leave it at that eh? It's especially handy for Friday night because you have to be back early Saturday.

Don't wait, sign up soon! 250-619-7201

Here are ICBC's numbers:
1-800-950-1498 (if calling from B.C., Canada or the United States) or 1-250-978-8300‚Äč (if calling from Greater Victoria or countries outside Canada and the United States).

COVID Notice: We have hand sanitizer available, the classroom is sanitized before class, and Katrina made some nice cloth masks that you get to keep and take home. During class time, we sit apart, and keep the doors open for LOTS of fresh air, so bring your coat if it looks like it might get chilly. In the parking lot, social distancing won't be an issue, and for the short times when I have to be closer to you, we wear our helmets and riding gear. Riding is still limited to five riders at a time. We occasionally have one or two extra guests in the classroom, but there is lots of room.

I provide the motorcycles, insurance, gas, dad jokes, and a fun weekend! If the weather is nice, my wife does a free barbecue. The course consists of two evenings of theory(Usually Thursday and Friday 6 - 10PM), two full days riding (Saturday and Sunday), and the MSA Sunday afternoon. We are located in South Nanaimo. New riders are welcome to have a parent attend the theory portion at no charge, as well as any previous students who would like a refresher. Even experienced and licensed riders who are sponsoring a new rider are welcome to the theory sessions free of charge. You have to share your stories though...Barbecue is open and free to past, present and future students. Let Katrina know you're coming so she can have a burger in the cooler for you. Text her at 250-703-1091. Make sure you tell her who you are so I don't get that quizzical look from her....you know the one.

Traffic / road test prep course is $210.00 plus tax. Add another 200 if you want to use one of my bikes for both the traffic course and the test at ICBC. Maximum is two people, and the teaching time is three hours. Add one or two coffee stops to that time, as it's rather intense. Imagine me yammering in your ear for three hours straight....

When you make your payment, I will give you coupons good for some very substantial discounts at some of the local motorcycle stores. We all want you to start out with a good set of protective gear! Road rash can seriously ruin your day.

We  usually run classroom time on Thursday and Friday evenings, followed by all day Saturday and Sunday on the bikes and I'll do your MST/MSA test for you at the end. You can then take the paperwork to ICBC to take the restrictions off your learners license.

If those days / times don't work for you, feel free to ask for something else.

Did you know, that since we are an ICBC approved school, the restrictions on your 6L license of daylight hours only, and under 60KPH are removed while learning with us? That means that we can go out after hours to practice, and we can go on the highway during training.

If you are comparing prices, please ensure that you are comparing apples to apples. My basic course includes a minimum of 25 hours of training, including 17 hours on MY bikes and eight hours of theory. My courses are NEVER more than five students.

We are ICBC registered, bonded, insured, inspected and approved. I recommend that you do the ROAD test on whatever bike you are most comfortable on. Odds are it will be your own, since you will have been riding it for a while. If you don't have your own bike, but have taken the basic training with me, I will rent you one of mine for $200. I do not rent bike to anyone who hasn't taken both courses with me, and then only for the road test.

We are located in Cedar, just south of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Serving new riders from Nanaimo, Parksville, Ladysmith, Duncan, Courtenay, Cumberland, Comox, Victoria, Port Alberni, and Campbell River.

Please note that classroom time is done in my home, and that I am a registered golden retriever (dog) breeder. If you have allergies to dogs or cats, I may be unable to accommodate you. If you have a fear of animals, they are locked outside while you are here. If you like puppies and dogs, check out my other website at

O

Randyism's...

When you're wrestling bears, wrestle the little ones first

I'm all about that clutch, 'bout that clutch, not the throttle...(to the tune of Meghan Trainor's "I'm all about that base"

You have your entire riding career to learn how to ride fast. Don't make it a short one!

You go where you look, so look where you want to go.

Look where you want to go, not where you think you're gonna go. Where do I want to be in ten seconds. THAT'S where your eyes are focused....ALWAYS!

If you think you're gonna hit the tree, looking at the tree just signs the contract.

Experience builds skill, which builds confidence.

There is no emergency worth crashing over.

Chase skill, not speed. Speed will come with skill. Speed without skills is dangerous.

Know safety, no pain. No safety, know pain.

Those cones really ARE pretty. Try not to stare.

If I sees it, I hits it!

OH LOOK!! A BIRD! ~^~
